Why I've built an /ai page

I’m joining other folks in adding a /ai page to this site, following the The /ai ‘manifesto’ by Damola Morenikeji.

Where are the AIs that do taxes, automate my car insurance renewal, checks how many calories I’m ingesting? I don’t want to spend time doing the boring things in life while I see AI creating art, music, and doing all the cool stuff.

All I’m seeing until now is my partner and her colleagues losing commissions and work opportunities because companies prefer to pay insert-AI-tool instead of real people to create illustrations. I see developers from all seniority levels not knowning how to search for a solution anymore, blindly trusting whatever output a tool produces.

All I see are really good products, and the bad ones, pushing AI into our faces instead of truly evolving the product. I see companies pivoting into “AI powered” solutions that would be call the algorithm 2 years ago (remember when people used to be mad at the algorithm?).
